pure grade moxa sticks
Moxibustion is a form of heat therapy that involves the burning of the mugwort plant (artemisia vulgaris) on or above specific points on the body. Used for centuries, this antiviral and antibacterial plant cleanses the air and washes your system clean when practiced on a daily basis. The warming process stimulates circulation, encourages blood and lymphatic flow, and through clinical research, has shown to increase both red and white blood cell counts. This practice strengthens your immune function, dissolves blockages in the body, restores balance, and expels pathogenic influences like viruses and other disease-carrying microbes from the body. Although there are over 50 different moxibustion techniques, one of the best ways to integrate this preventative health care practice at home is through the use of high grade moxa sticks.
MOxa stick
Moxibustion sticks are handheld wands. Packed with high grade Mugwort and wrapped in paper, these provide you with an easy way to recharge at home.
The scent of moxa is very distinct and therapeutic in itself. While many people find it to be relaxing, it can be smokey. Practicing this technique outside or by an open window is ideal for proper ventilation.
Rice bowl & Point Location
Before you begin your at-home practice, prepare a small bowl of rice to use as an ashtray. Extinguishing the stick in water will create unnecessary smoke and make it more difficult to relight.
Using a non-toxic marker or eyeliner to mark your treatment point can be helpful when you first get started.
treatment
Carry out the two techniques described in the link below for about 10 minutes on each point. Be mindful as you are giving and receiving the heat treatment; using lit moxa requires your undivided attention.
After about 5-10 minutes you should experience a warm and tingling sensation in the area you are treating. This is an indication that your vital energy is warming up and receiving support.
CAUTIONS & CONSIDERATIONS:
Keep the lit end of the stick at least one inch away from the surface of the skin. If the stick is held too closely to the body or in one place for too long of a period of time, a blister could form.
While the stick is lit, the ash should be removed from the tip to maintain a sufficient level of heat.
This therapy requires the use of a hot lit ember. Exercise caution and common sense to avoid burning yourself or anything around you.
