Seirin Pyonex Press tacks
These modern Japanese tools are tiny surgical grade, stainless steel needles attached to waterproof and breathable hypoallergenic tape. Although the needles do not puncture the skin as a traditional acupuncture needle would, they do provide continuous stimulation at important points when applied.
Directions:
Begin by locating your point and cleaning the area with soap and water.
Peel away the white plastic to reveal the press tack within the packaging.
Fold the hard plastic at the crease to make removal of the press tack easier.
Pull the white tab to lift away the press tack. Avoid touching too much of the adhesiveness.
Place the press tack on the prescribed point and gently tap to ensure the adhesive is stuck in place.
Slide out the white tab from under the press tack and tap the remaining adhesive to the skin.
Considerations and Cautions:
Once in place, you should only be acutely aware of the press tack, if at all.
Do not apply acupressure over the press tack to avoid causing irritation to the skin and/or dislodging the press tack.
You may wash and shower when you have press tacks in; however, avoid vigorous washing or scrubbing of areas where press tacks have been applied.
Press tacks should left on for a maximum of five days.
Although problems with press tacks are rare, daily examinations are important.
Pain, soreness, swelling, redness, heat, or persistent itching may indicate an infection. If any of these symptoms are present, remove the press tack, consult a physician, and contact your practitioner.
Remove the press tack immediately if it causes you any discomfort at any time, including while sleeping.
Minor itching or irritation could indicate that the press tack may have been displaced, or that you may have an allergy to the adhesive tape. Remove the press tack and contact your practitioner.
To remove the press tack, a corner of the tape holding the press tack on should be lifted up with a pair of tweezers. Grasp the corner of tape with the tweezers and quickly pull the tape away. Fold the press tack carefully onto itself and dispose of in the garbage.
