mini moxa
These modern tools were developed to make moxibustion more accessible to the public. They are easy to apply and gentle enough for daily use. Made in both a raw (smokey) version and a charcoal (smokeless) version, these mini moxa sticks provide you the opportunity take an active role in strengthening your own inner vitality and strength. Although they are easy to use, it is important to remove them in the safest way possible. The moxa continues to burn down within the cardboard base making it difficult to visually determine when it has burned out. Always test the cardboard base to make sure it has cooled before trying to remove. If you notice any level of discomfort or questionable heat coming from the moxa, please remove it immediately to avoid any harm.
Have your rice bowl (ash try) near by.
Mark your point with eye liner, a non-toxic marker or a heat-shield sticker.
Peel away sticker that may be on the bottom (none on the black charcoal sticks).
Evenly light all edges of moxa stick with a lighter.
Place mini moxa stick on point and wait as it burns down.
Before removing, test the heat by quickly touching the cardboard base; if it is still hot, the interior is still burning.
Remove only after the cardboard base has completely cooled and place in your ash tray.
Repeat 2-3 times until a gentle warmth is felt at the point. The raw moxa versions will leave a residual amount of plant resin after it has been removed. This is a desired effect and you can leave it in place as it will naturally fade.
